Everything is born from our SUN. It is the most important and practically unlimited renewable energy source from which all other renewable sources come.
THE PRODUCTION CHAINS OF SOLAR ENERGY
Photovoltaic and solar thermal systems are the most important energy production chains which obtain Energy directly from the Sun. Photovoltaic energy directly transforms the electromagnetic component of solar radiation which spills onto the earth’s surface into electric energy, using the physical properties of certain semi-conducting materials, while solar thermal energy transmits the thermal component of solar radiation to a heat-carrying fluid. The industrial production chains dedicated to the production of products and systems dedicated to collecting and exploiting solar energy have undergone strong development, characterised by advanced technologies.
THE AGENTS OF THE PRODUCTION CHAINS
The photovoltaic production chain, with origins that are very close to the electrical sector, is made up of a value chain including different agents: manufacturers of components – mono or polycrystalline and thin film photovoltaic panels which, assembled with supporting components and electrical connection between the panels themselves, create the photovoltaic module, junction boxes, inverters, special cables, control systems, solar trackers, supporting structures; designers, contractors, installers and maintenance operators of photovoltaic systems, but also, at the root, financial partners.
The solar heat production chain, with origins that are very close to the heating/plumbing and boilers sector, is made up of a value chain including different agents: manufacturers of components – manifolds and heat solar systems, insulated tubes, various types of valves, pumps, regulation systems, tanks for solar heat systems, supporting structures; designers, contractors, installers and maintenance operators of solar heat systems, but also, at the root, financial partners.
ICIM’S PROPOSAL FOR AGENTS OF THE PRODUCTION CHAINS
Attentive to the needs of Solar Energy production chain agents, ICIM has developed a series of certification and policy guidance services, qualified at a national (GSE, ACCREDIA accreditations) and international level (Solar Keymark qualification for solar heat and IECEE CBScheme for photovoltaic systems) which allow the companies directly involved in manufacturing the components, the designers and installers, key factors in the final efficiency of the systems, and also the financial partners of those purchasing the ststems, to have qualifying coverage of their own products and services, as well as support and aid for their work.
