Oil, Gas & Engineering

As much as renewable energy is talked about, we will still need our planet’s fossil resources for many years to come, in order to feed our energy needs. Fossil resources can be grouped into three large families: solids – carbon, fluids – petrol, gases – methane.

THE OIL, GAS & ENGINEERING PRODUCTION CHAINS

Management, transport and use of fossil resources over time has created, and still creates, problems in safety and efficiency, even for social, economic and environmental sustainability aspects, which are increasingly requested by everyone.
The processes and equipment, which go from extraction, to transport, to refining, to use for energy or other uses, such as chemical products, plastic materials and fuel for transport, and products derived from the various fossil resource production chains, are widely defined and standardised by laws and regulations at all levels, for both historical and technical reasons; due to the capital importance of these sources, these laws and regulations are, in any case, periodically updated based on the technological state of the art which is continuously developing.

THE AGENTS OF THE PRODUCTION CHAINS

Manufacturers of components, machinery, systems, and designers and installers, require more and more safety and efficiency guarantees. To meet these requests appropriately, it is necessary to work on the homogeneity of the materials, the quality of the components and processes (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, welding, distillation towers, structures, boilers, turbines, cooling systems, control systems, etc.), the quality of the systems, their periodical checks, staff training, the improvement and the innovation of production and safety processes.
The development of new efficient and clean technologies, the environmental and ethical management of processes, and the improvement of management processes are the most appropriate responses to satisfy the requests to take sustainability aspects into due account.

ICIM’S PROPOSAL FOR AGENTS OF THE PRODUCTION CHAINS

Evaluating market trends and requests, ICIM has developed proposals for inspection, certification and qualified vendor management services, for all agents operating in OIL, GAS & ENGINEERING production chains. This allows the manufacturers of components, machinery and systems, and the designers and installers to have wide-ranging qualifying coverage of their own products and services.
