After stipulating the contract with ICIM as AIA accredited, the Manufacturer identifies, through the portal Certification and Accreditation of the ASME website (link www.asme.org/shop/certification-accreditation), the adequate certification programme for the manufacturing type and target market, conventional and/or nuclear.
The Manufacturer applies to ASME for certification and upon filing the certification application, indicates ICIM as the AIA with which it has entered into an agreement for inspecting its products
The manufacturer develops and implements its Quality Programme, suited to the purpose of certification.
ICIM supports the Manufacturer in the preparation and implementation of the Quality Programme and may perform a preliminary audit before the ASME certification audit.
THE ACTIVITY CARRIED OUT BY ICIM AS AIA ACCREDITED
ICIM performs analysis and assessment of the drawings /calculations /qualifications of the welding processes /inspection plan/personnel qualifications; of the inspection and testing activities, monitoring, process control; of ascertaining conformity with the Code requirements and authorisation to stamping.
JOINT REVIEW OR SURVEY (NUCLEAR)
The ICIM Supervisor and Inspector take part together with ASME personnel in inspection activities at the manufacturer’s premises. The ASME audit lasts from 2 to 5 days depending on the purpose of the certification.
Based on the outcome of the audit, ASME’s Conformity Assessment Department issues the certificate and sends the Certification Stamp to the manufacturer.
The ASME certified company, for all equipment to be stamped according to the ASME Code, is subject to audits by ICIM, as AIA accredited, with the aim of obtaining ASME stamping authorisation for the individual piece of equipment.
The duration of the certification pathway is about 4/6 months.
